Who are we? Are we just the royal, editorial "we" you see so often in print?

Or are we the OTHER We: the whining, anonymous, sometimes petulant voice of faceless, underpaid staffers; East Coast junior copy editors who will go on to carve careers publishing diet books or perhaps join the ranks of bitter, disappointed editorial assistants who will NEVER let your manuscript see the top side of the slush pile. Can you blame them?

Possibly. Except we probably changed venues. Publishing is in transition right now.

So maybe we drifted out to the West Coast, got a gig as a script doctor, correcting the spelling and punctuation for actors scrambling to jump-start some other career when their pilot doesn't get picked up , cashed some quick checks before they had a chance to find out their number had already been deleted from the producer's Palm Pilot. Or maybe we got thrown a bone in development, another one of the nameless bottom-dwellers sucking up the flotsam dribbling out of the dream factories. Brrrrr.

Luckily, we are none of the above. Unless you'd like us to be.

Midnight Graffiti began life in 1988 as a small press magazine , famous for a certain irreverance, but dead serious about fiction and journalism. (We have been honored for both). We're determined to bring the Midnight Graffiti experience to cyberspace, to YOU.

We're actually looking at you right now. (We saw what you just did.)

We want you to have fun, to be entertained, to read great stories and learn about all the really weird crap that is endlessly fascinating to us. You WILL learn about the how disease changed the course of history. You WILL go INSIDE the funeral industry and learn about the State of Decay. You will learn more about film makers than you EVER wanted to know.

We are: Jessie Horsting, publisher and Senior Editor. The loyal staff includes Russell Buchanan, Business Manager and Advertising Director (and frequent contributor), James Van Hise , Contributing Editor, Amy Horsting, Associate Editor, David C., Senior production artist, Jenny O, whose photo of a reflection of St. Paul's is one of our beautiful backgrounds; Johnny Deluxe, U.K., Moving Image artist, and we have had exceptional floating contributing editors , writers such as: Stephen King , Harlan Ellison , Ray Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, Frank Darabont, Mick Garris , David Schow, Ramsey Campbell, Dennis Etchison, Dan Simmons, John Shirley, Joe Lansdale, Paul Sammon and many others who have contributed interviews and stories in the past, and we hope, in the future.

We're located here, right where you are. This is where you can find us. We're ALWAYS open. Write us if you want, at midnight@midnightgraffiti.com
